Sarah Redfern PS is set in the educationally challenging context of Minto, one of Sydney's large public housing estates. Currently the houses are being demolished to be replaced by new private homes. We believe that education is a pathway to a successful future. High quality education is determined by providing a variety of experiences through challenging programs thereby enabling students to reach their highest potential and become lifelong learners and by valuing and celebrating individual and school achievement in recognition that self esteem is the foundation of learning success. The school also provides opportunity for all school community members to learn and to strive for personal excellence, to value and share decision making with community members and to provide a nurturing environment where children feel happy. Sarah Redfern PS is a fully inclusive environment where students with disabilities are welcomed to participate alongside their more able peers. Five special classes have been created to cater for the wide range of students from around the SSW region. The school also provides extension programs for more gifted students. We are enriched by a diverse enrolment - 12% Aboriginal and 57% LBOTE.
