Numurkah Primary School’s demographics continued to be influenced by social and economic patterns and the increasing mobility of families in and out of the town. Taking into account our student backgrounds, the school aims to implement social & educational programs that support every individual. Our workforce consists of two principal class members, nine full-time and three part-time teachers, four education support officers and one trainee. Our school promotes the Tribes values of: Attentive Listening, Mutual Respect, Considered Thinking, Appreciation & Personal Best. The school is using two main social programs to develop and extend the school’s culture: You Can Do It (individual social attributes); Tribes (group, collaborative skills), and uses the practical activities that come from Bounce Back, Tribes and Games Factory to put meaning to our values. Continued development of our literacy & numeracy programs remains a high priority, with particular emphasis on oral and written comprehension, writing and numeracy fluency. These areas are complemented by integrated themes, science/technology, PE/sport and specialist areas: visual arts, music. ICT is integrated across the curriculum. Different uses of the Ultranet will be explored over the coming year. Extra curricular activities include lunchtime activities, choir, debating festival, camps and swimming programs. With the upgrade of buildings partly completed, we are now exploring ways to best utilise the new Open Learning Space for student learning, in the Prep-2 classes.
