St Mark's Catholic Primary School is a co-educational school in Fawkner which is in Melbourne's northern suburbs. The core values of the school are based on the good news of the gospels and the school works closely with members of the wider parish. St Mark's has an enrolment of approximately 190 students who travel from the surrounding suburbs. St Mark's is close to public transport and can be reached easily by using Sydney Road or via the Western Ring Road. The school was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1934 and has strong historical links to the community. St Mark's is a well-resourced and attractive learning environment. Some of the unique features of the school include a library with over 15 000 books, a recently renovated canteen, a new multi-purpose hall and nine attractive classrooms. The school canteen is open four days a week. The school has specialist music, sports, visual arts and Italian teachers and extra-curricular activities including the school choir and school chess club. The school has an active house system and students participate in annual cross country, swimming and athletics carnivals.
