Pakenham Springs community is united in its quest to achieve high quality success in learning for all students. A collaborative and positive approach motivates the community to pursue greater success for student learning. The school's mission is to ensure all students learn the essential skills and knowledge necessary to become productive members of the community. The school is a place that encourages and enables the professional work and identity of the staff, as well as developing as a strong community school, being welcoming, open and being seen as the centre of the local community. Pakenham Springs is in its third year of operation and is continuing to develop and strengthen its learning programs. In 2010 the student population continued to rapidly increase. The school has 40.6 equivalent full-time staff: 1 Principal class, 33 teachers and 6.6 Education Support Staff. The school has an emphasis on the application of information and communication technology throughout all learning areas and has extended its technology resources over 2010. During 2010 there has been a strong emphasis given to developing the school as a Professional Learning Community. This has actively involved the staff in focusing on the following four questions: 'What knowledge and skills should every student acquire as a result of this unit of instruction?'; 'How will we know when each student has acquired the essential knowledge and skills?'; 'How will we respond when some students do not learn?'; and 'How will we respond when some students have clearly achieved the intended outcome?'
