Golden Square Primary School has in excess of 400 students in Grades Prep to 6. This school has 33.08 equivalent full-time staff, 3.0 principal class, 22.8 teachers and 7.28 Educational Support Staff. For a newly merged school, some admirable student learning outcomes in priority areas have been achieved, and a smooth transition to the introduction of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) curriculum. Performing Arts programs and a diverse range of core and extra-curricular activities support the broader vision of the VELS. Classroom teachers are supported by specialist staff, as well as an active parent and community helpers. Professional development is a school priority, and will continue so that emerging priorities can be implemented successfully. Students are immersed with technology throughout the school, with a particular emphasis on 1:1 access in years 5 and 6. 'Student Engagement and Wellbeing' has been a key focus at all year levels. The school has taken significant steps to implement programs that support both elements. In particular, the introduction of extra wellbeing support staff and the continuation of the School Chaplain program, has meant an extra layer of support to staff, students and parents.
