Ascot Vale Primary is located in the inner city suburbs of Melbourne and was established in 1885. The current multi-age structure commenced in 1984 with support from the school community and continues to be a strength of the way we learn together. Ascot Vale Primary currently has 235 students enrolled and is within the Western Metropolitan Region as one of 23 schools within the Moonee Valley network of schools. Ascot Vale Primary will soon move into refurbished and new facilities designed by the school community (April 2010). Students will have access to a student centred technological learning environment where they will be actively engaged in learning and with their own community. This will increase the scope and depth of learning opportunities available to students, staff and families and open up our facilities to the wider community inside and out ofschool hours. The school has 19.3 EFT staff (2 Principal class, 11.9 teachers and 5.4 Education Support staff). Our Strategic Plan (2010 - 2014) builds upon our strengths of community wellbeing, safety and connectedness to school and focuses our attention upon improving student achievement to above expected VELS levels for Prep to Year 6 students in reading, writing and numeracy. Staff are aiming to improve the level of student attitudes to teaching and learning so they will continue to produce and maintain personalised learning plans for every student and implement a student negotiated curriculum with a special emphasis on student self assessment and student goal setting.
