Claymore Public School, opened in 1980, caters for around 400 students from P to 6. It has a LOTE background population of over 50% of the student enrolment, with more than 30% being from Pacific Communities. As well as mainstream classes, Claymore Public School has Special Education classes consisting of Early Intervention Units and Intellectually Mild, Intellectually Moderate and Autism classes. The school prides itself on successfully providing for a wide range of student needs and is building on its successes in Sport and the Arts. Established welfare programs support children in order to allow them to focus on their education. The Positive Behaviour Interventions and Support (PBIS) program promotes the core beliefs of 'Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner'. Teaching and learning programs are well planned so that they provide a relevant, interesting and meaningful education. To sustain the support of students with special needs, specific Department of Education and Training support is provided through Priority Action School and Priority Schools Funding programs and federal government Low SES funding. A major focus of the school is the embedding of technology into high quality classroom pedagogy. Interactive whiteboards (IWBs) have been installed in all classrooms to provide students with an interactive learning environment.
