St Albans East Primary School caters for a culturally diverse student population and is located in a well-established residential area of St Albans in the City of Brimbank. At 2011 census, school enrolment was 346 students. The school comprises 15 classes; the average number of students per class is 22.4 across the school. The school has had a combination of straight and composite classrooms. It is anticipated that the school enrolment will now remain stable. The SFO (Student Family Occupation) is 0.84 and LBOTE 0.67. St Albans East Primary School staff comprises of 28.6 EFT teaching staff made up of: classroom teachers, teachers of the deaf and 3 leading teachers (literacy, numeracy and student wellbeing). The school has two members of the principal class, a principal and assistant principal. There are 9.0 EFT education support staff comprising of office administration and integration aides and auslan interpreters. The school has the services of 0.2 psychologist and 0.2 speech therapist through regional funding. The school also employs an additional 0.4 speech therapist from within its school budget. St Albans East Primary School hosts the only Primary Deaf Facility in the Western Metropolitan Region (WMR) which caters for the specific learning needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children. We have a strong commitment to the teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy and this has remaind a priority in our new Strategic Plan.
