Milkwood Steiner School is in Darwin, Northern Territory, offering Pre School to Year 6 Steiner education. We opened in 2004 in Nightcliff with 20 full time students. In 2010 the school moved and settled into new tropical style classrooms at 107 Boulter SRoad, Berrimah. Milkwood is governed by an independent 'not for profit' association with the main purpose to maintain a co-educational, non-denominational school in accordance with the educational philosophies of Rudolf Steiner. Our teachers present the class work artistically and imaginatively using music, story and the arts. The local tropical environment is woven into the life of the school, giving a creative and unique experience for the students. We participate in local community events celebrating the arts and other activities. Towards the end of each year Milkwood has an 'open' day and displays the richness and vibrant colour in the children's work. The children present music including the Milkwood String Ensemble, formed by students from Grade 4 onwards. Our students graduate into local high schools with excellent academic achievement, a love of learning and a positive approach to life. Participation in information evenings and workshops is encouraged to support a healthy home life. The school is supported by an active parent and friends community who do fundrasing as well as organise social activities for everyone to enjoy.
