Yule Brook College is a small by design high school in the Canning District. The College provides an individualised education program based upon student interests and passions. The program is Big Picture Education inspired, giving students real world application of their negotiated learning program. Parents and families are an essential element of everyday operations at YBC and form a vital link in their child's education. Parents contribute and participate in our learning programs. BPE and restorative justice assisted YBC in winning the 2008 Norm Hyde Award for Excellence in Pastoral Care. YBC was one of three schools in Australia to be awarded a High Achievement Certificate in the 2008 Dare to Lead Award in recognition of improving outcomes for Indigenous students through strong leadership and community collaboration. YBC established a Football Academy in partnership with the Clontarf Foundation to provide coaches (some ex AFL players). These mentors collaborate with teachers to assist students in their academic and personal development. Since 2007, YBC has maintained minimal suspensions, increases in attendance and significant gains in the NAPLAN numeracy and literacy results.
