Castlemaine Primary School is committed to continuous improvement and achieving excellence in teaching and learning at all levels. Castlemaine Primary is a member school of the Goldfields Network in the Loddon Mallee Region. The school enjoys a strong school community relationship and has an active parents club contributing to the school through fundraising, social and other activities to support our students. Our school strives to create a caring, creative learning community offering a diverse range of curriculum opportunities for all children with a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy. Staff consist of 1 Principal, 1 Leading Teacher, 8 classroom teachers and 4 part time specialist staff (library, visual & performing arts, French) and 5 educational support staff. Extra-curricular activities include a camping program, sports, art projects and excursions. The buildings are a blend of historical and modern buildings. In 2010 the school commenced trials of 3 new programs with an aim to enhance student learning across all areas. These programs include the introduction of the developmental curriculum in the early years (prep-1), the Skills Up program for students with special needs, and the COIL (Challenging Opportunities in Individual Leadership – developed by Janine Threlfall of Maldon PS) program in the senior classes. In 2011 we look forward to further developing and consolidating a range of programs to meet the needs of every child.
