Windermere Primary School services an area that is still largely rural but undergoing gradual change as the urban sprawl approaches. Enrolments in recent years have been steady, but are part of a longer term declining trend. Ongoing demographic change in the district has resulted in a very large number of transient students amongst the school population. The school has served the community since 1857 and now provides a quality education for a vastly different population than that traditionally associated with the Windermere district farming pioneers. The school works closely with neighbouring rural schools. This enables greater pupil socialisation, increased and more flexible curriculum and staffing options, collegial support, professional development and access to a broader range of resources. The school has 2.5 equivalent full time staff : 1 Principal class and 1.5 teachers. Windermere Primary School recognises its responsibilities to students in this new millennium. The school aims to educate students for the future and prepare them to be enterprising, adaptable and responsible citizens. We strongly encourage students to develop their own individual identity whilst at the same time recognising their responsibility to develop a sense of community and teamwork. Student
