Portland South Primary School is a small school of 85 students and 7.5 EFT staff (6.0 EFT teachers) servicing the community of South Portland. The Staff and School Council are committed to providing a quality education where children have the opportunity to reach their maximum academic potential, whilst developing a healthy life style, environmental awareness, sound social skills, a strong sense of self-worth, commitment to community and valuing others. We are committed to providing a safe, orderly, supportive, happy and caring school community in which to “Reach to the Stars to Achieve Success”. Our school boasts expansive grounds with a variety of well-resourced learning spaces including modern technology to support our commitment to teaching and learning for the 21st Century. Specialist classes are provided in PE, Art, Music, ICT and LOTE (French). Reading Recovery is implemented at Year 1. Use of the Restorative Practices approach to behaviour management, embedded You Can Do It!, Values Education and Learning to Learn programs, a focus on Healthy Lifestyles as a Kids-‘Go for Your Life’ school and a strong student leadership program combine to support student wellbeing and engagement. Parents are encouraged to participate in all aspects of school life.
