Lalor North Primary School has a culturally diverse population of 340 students, many of whom come from non-English speaking backgrounds and receive the Education Maintenance allowance. The school has 33.25 equivalent full time staff: 2 Principal class, 24.4 teachers and 8.85 Education Support Officers. Lalor North has two successful nationally recognised Macedonian/English and Greek/English bilingual programs (7 classes) and a Standard program where Italian is taught as a second language (8 classes). The school provides a comprehensive curriculum emphasising deep learning, enquiry and problem solving. All students participate in music, visual art,sports and computer programs. The school continues to develop its approach to 21st century technologies. At Lalor North, the school's values of 'respect, honesty and confidence, learning and doing your best' underpin a climate where students are engaged as individuals and can develop their potential as citizens. Lalor North Primary School is currently evaluating its progress towards the goals set in the last Strategic Plan. The community will be involved in a self evaluation, which will contribute to the development of a new Strategic Plan in Semester 2.The new plan will emphasise the importance of scaffolding early literacy development, deepening comprehension, building numeracy skills and broadening student knowledge.
