Cobar is an isolated far western mining community and rural service centre of approximately 5000 people, located 820 kilometres west of Sydney. Cobar High School is a co-educational, comprehensive high school catering for students from Year 7 through to Year 12. It is part of the Bourke School Education Group. The mission of Cobar High School is to provide a quality education for its students and the school community. Strong community links have been formed through the development of School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships.
