Balcatta Primary School, situated ten kilometres north-west of Perth in the suburb of Balcatta, has a very comfortable population of approximately 200 students, from Kindergarten to Year Seven. The school's mission is to develop independent learners by supporting each child to attain their highest academic, social, cultural and physical potential. Many of the staff have experience in working with students of ethnic backgrounds. Extra support is available to the school for literacy and numeracy development and for non-English speaking students. The services of a School Psychologist, School Nurse and School Chaplain are also available. Important to us is the continued development and enhancement of our Information Communication Technology area through staff professional learning, and fostering increased use of Internet facilities with greater access for our students. Parental involvement is encouraged in all aspects of school life and school decision making is enhanced through consultation involving parents and staff, through groups such as the Parents and Citizens' Association and the School Council.
