Forest Primary School aims to provide equality of educational opportunities enabling students to achieve high standards of learning. We promote quality teaching within a supportive environment. We aim to provide all students with skills, values and strategies enabling them to become adaptable and self-reliant within a rapidly changing society. Forest Primary is set in the Circular Head municipality, North West Tasmania. The community is predominantly supported through primary industry with vegetable growing, beef and dairy farming being the main forms of agriculture. The majority of our students travel to and from school on buses which service a large home area. Forest Primary has strong parent involvement with commitment to formal groups such as Parents and Friends and School Association. We have cooperative partnerships occurring across the Kinder-Grade 6 classes through a variety of learning and social opportunities. Forest Primary is well resourced with a committed teaching staff of eight teachers (including a full-time Literacy Coordinator) across six classes. Regular student assessments provide us with information relating to our students learning strengths and needs. This information allows us to support our students and to provide appropriate intervention based on individual learning needs. The non-teaching staff perform a variety of roles including student support, administration and ancillary duties. To support our K to 6 programs we have a Birth to 4 group who meet once a week, Link programs for pre-Kinder students and an outstanding outside hours after school care facility which is licensed for 15 students. Forest Primary students also enjoy the school farm and working on an ongoing wetland rehabilitation project all located on the school site.
