Latrobe Primary is committed to achieving the best possible student learning outcomes and excellent diverse partnerships. We have a strong focus on explicit Literacy and Numeracy. Specialist teachers provide programs in Reading Recovery, Physical Education, Japanese, Visual Arts and Music. The integration of ICTs use of Primary Connections Science and Writers' Notebook are established approaches. Latrobe Primary is an Australian Sustainable School Initiative school. A Red Cross Good Start Breakfast Club, Active After School Communities and Move Well Eat Well programs form part of the Live Life Latrobe suite of health and fitness programs. 'Birth to School' programs include Let's Read parent-child sessions and Music Therapy. A School Chaplain ensures on-going support for students and families. Teaching staff are committed to weekly on-going professional learning, small group teaching and implementation of explicit programs to improve student learning outcomes. Significant improvements to programs (including staffing), learning environments, curriculum resources and facilities are taking place through 2009 and 2010 with the injection of school funds as well as BER and PIOS projects.
