South George Town Primary School is located in George Town, Northern Tasmania. Our school was established in 1967. Students work in 11 class groupings with class sizes ranging from 15 to 26. We aim to support each child in achieving their potential and to do this within a safe caring and supportive environment. We provide a vigorous and comprehensive teaching, learning and assessment program based upon the Tasmanian Curriculum. Pride is taken in the student outcomes achieved. Our staff work proactively with parents and the broader community to build an increasingly effective school. In 2009 our School Improvement Plan identifies Literacy, Science, and History and Society as our development priorities, while ICT and Positive Behaviour Support are maintenance priorities. We offer a range of innovative supplementary programs including LOTE and arts pursuits. We provide programs to support Aboriginal students and Early Learning Programs to support children aged 0 to 4 years. We take pride in our school being an inclusive community that flexibly meets the needs of all learners so that everyone can achieve grow and be accepted.
