Castlemaine North Primary School continues to promote the achievement of high-quality educational outcomes for all students in all areas of the curriculum with a particular focus on English and Mathematics. Integrated inquiry learning and specialist programs for Performing and Visual Arts and LOTE Indonesian are strong features of the school. Our dedicated staff team is committed to ongoing professional learning to improve student achievement. Our school has continued to embed new learning technologies with all Year 5 and Year 6 students and their teachers involved in the 'Netbook' Program. Learning technologies are integrated into learning and teaching and we are currently introducing the Ultranet. Throughout the past three years our school has undertaken considerable refurbishment of existing buildings through the 'Building Better Schools Today' project and 'National School Pride' funds. The Junior School learning area includes three home-group teaching spaces and a variety of withdrawal or small-group learning areas. The original 1870s heritage listed building has also been refurbished recently. In 2010, four new Senior School classrooms and a library were completed as part of the Building the Education Revolution program. High-quality teaching and learning in a range of flexible learning spaces occurs across the school. A positive partnership exists between parents and staff and is evident in the work of classroom helpers, School Council and Parents' Club.
