Kiewa Valley Primary School strives to be a school community in which learners are positive, independent thinkers who are self motivated and have a love of learning. We aim to foster the development of learners and their self esteem in an environment that is caring, provides academic rigour and supports and promotes critical thinking, communication, collaboration, innovation and creativity to develop our students as global citizens of the 21st century. Kiewa Valley Primary School is typified by families with predominantly english speaking backgrounds and medium to high socio economic status. We have 23 equivalent full time staff: 1 Principal class, 11 teachers and 10 Education Support staff. Kiewa Valley Primary School believes that foundational skills in Literacy and Numeracy are fundamental lifeskills which are essential in the development of active, engaged students and future citizens. Literacy and Numeracy are strong features of our curriculum with our focus in 2010 being firmly on assessment, teaching and learning in the area of Numeracy from Prep through to Year 6. Along with this Kiewa Valley Primary School began the construction of an Early Learning Centre through the Building the Education Revolution (BER) process. It is anticipated that during 2011 the local kindergarten and Child Maternal Health nursing service will relocate to this new building located on the school grounds. 2010 also provided the opportunity to undertake a school review, the result being the development of our new Strategic Plan.
