Dana Street Primary School has an enrolment of 194 and is located in the Ballarat central business district. The core purpose of the school is to provide a comprehensive education for all students through effective communication, strong teamwork and the application of a range of teaching and learning strategies within a climate of fun and enjoyment that enables students to reach their academic, social, emotional and physical potential. We believe that education is a process of growth underpinned by the following community values: respect, care, responsibilty, inclusion, tolerance, understanding and excellence. The school is organized into 9 learning groups supported by specialist visual and performing arts, personal development and physical education programs. This provides a comprehensive and engaging teaching and learning program for all students. Students are also supported through student welfare programs and strategies which are aimed at developing responsibility, resilience and social, emotional and physical potential. The school has two Principal Class Officers and 9.5 EFT teaching staff. The school was established in 1857 and has played a significant role in the education community of Ballarat. Commonwealth and Victorian State Government grants have provided a refurbishment of our infant learning and administration areas as well as a new multi-purpose learning centre.
