St Joseph's Primary School is a small Catholic co-educational primary school located in Chiltern in the north-east region of Victoria. St Joseph's enrolment of approximately 55 students comes from the Indigo Shire. The school was originally established in 1901 by the Presentation Sisters who continued with their dedication of teaching the children of the area until the 1970s. The first lay Principal commenced in 1974. Over the years many hours of volunteer work has been carried out at the school to enhance and maintain the school surroundings. It is the dedication and vision of parents and staff members over many decades that has provided students with such fantastic assets found at St Joseph's today. St Joseph's will continue to provide an example of Christian living using the life of Jesus as a model. Children will be encouraged to take an interest in the concerns and needs of their school community, individuals and the wider community. The environment of St Joseph's will provide children with a safe and challenging atmosphere to develop and succeed in a variety of learning experiences within the guidelines of the curriculum.
