At Eildon Primary School our mission is to ensure the healthy development of every child so that they have the knowledge, skills and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world. The children, teachers and parents, and the wider community all work together to provide a caring learning environment, and the best programs and opportunities for our students. We provide a comprehensive curriculum in each domain of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards [VELS] with a strong emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy. In 2010 specialist programs included Languages Other Than English - Italian, Visual Arts, Music, Science, Physical Education and Humanties. Individual Learning Plans are developed for all students to support a personalised approach to learning. Additional assistance is provided through a Reading Recovery Program and Students with Disabilities Program. Extra-curriculuar programs include TRIBES, Life Education, Swimming, Annual Triathlon, Religious Education, Camps and Excursions Program, Perceptual Motor Program, cultural visits and Active After School Communities Program. The Royal Children's Hospital in conjunction with Berry Street provided a Social Skills program using the talents of local preforming and visual artists. In 2010 our staffing included a Principal, 3.6 teachers, 0.63 Integration Aide and 0.6 Business Manager. In addition we were supported by a Chaplain [weekly], psychologist [oncall], a counsellor in training [weekly], Literacy Coach [term one] and Numeracy Coach [terms two, three, four].
