St Albans Heights Primary School is a well established school in the western suburbs of Melbourne in the Keilor St Albans network. We service a highly diverse, multicultural community representing up to 34 different nationalities, including a number of refugee students. Eighty six percent of our students come from a Language Background Other Than English and we have a very mobile population. Our school delivers a comprehensive learning program with strong focus on literacy and numeracy achievement. We aim to prepare our students to be active and responsible global citizens. Our school has mandated a minimum of 2 hours of literacy and a minimum of 1 hour numeracy a day to underpin student improvement. Our school has achieved similar or higher results to other schools in each outcome and continues to improve our Student Attitude to Schools survey results. Our Network Strategy of improving Literacy and Numeracy skills is part of the state-wide approach to school improvement that is explained in the Blueprint for Government Schools. Our school workforce comprises a full time Principal and Assistant Principal, 20 teaching staff working at 19.3 Equivalent Full Time (EFT) and 15 Education Support staff working equivalent to 8.65EFT in a variety of roles from Office management, classroom support, library, IT speech, welfare, canteen and grounds.
