Kew East Primary School (KEPS) is committed to providing rich learning experiences with a focus on developing literacy and numeracy skills. High expectations and a commitment to personal excellence is the basis on which teaching and learning is implemented. Developing the qualities of optimism and high self-esteem, whilst fostering creative, deep and reflective thinkers who are well prepared for life, is an aspirational goal for all at Kew East. Students at Kew East are challenged to extend their thinking and abilities through engaging in inquiry based curriculum. Our goal is to facilitate deep investigations of concepts and provide a highly motivating and stimulating environment for all learners. The four KEPS values of respect, resilience, relationships and responsibility are explicitly taught and actively promoted in a whole school Student Wellbeing Program. Students are highly supported during transitions into KEPS and between levels in the school. The school has the equivalent of 34.68 effective full time staff, which includes, 2 principal class members, 24.41 teachers and 8.27 education support staff. The school offers high quality specialist programs and provides a unique Band Program as an extra curricula option. The Band Program is exemplary, offering students the opportunity to learn advanced musical notation, develop the discipline required to work as a member of a large band and provides authentic performance experiences.
