Morwell Park Primary School, in central Latrobe Valley, 150km east of Melbourne, services the residential area of Morwell East. The school enrolment is 353 which has remained stable in recent years despite a decreasing Morwell population. The school is attractive with well maintained classrooms, including a 6 class BER building, gardens and playing areas. It adjoins and has access to a very large oval and netball facility. It has a school gym and a well resourced computer / information technology laboratory. The school has computers and interactive whiteboards accessible to all classrooms in addition to 4 classroom sets of netbooks. The school values a strong partnership between parents and staff, with an active Parent Association and School Council. The students’ best interest is always at the heart of decision making. The school is proud of the emphasis placed on the teaching of ‘Core Knowledge’ in literacy and numeracy. Morwell Park is a school that cares; a breakfast program is offered to students daily as well as platters of fruit provided during recess. The school has been actively involved in the Morwell Regeneration Project which has included partnerships with all Morwell schools, school councils and the wider community.
