Murchison Primary School’s purpose is nurturing individuality in students to ‘be the best they can be’. School values are: Respect, Responsibility and Understanding of Individuality; A Safe, Secure and Caring Environment; Healthy Body, Healthy Mind; Teamwork and Involvement in the Community. Workforce composition is made up of the principal and 6.6 effective fulltime classroom teachers. In addition to those teachers, one day per week there is an Art teacher, Library teacher and a PE teacher. Also there is 1 fulltime ESS staff. Early Years Numeracy and Literacy are implemented across the school. The curriculum covers VELS Strands through a themebased, integrated, enquiry approach. A Developmental Curriculum program is implemented across the Prep – Year 1 area. Emphasis is placed upon the importance of older students caring for the needs of younger students. The You Can Do It support children to develop self discipline and pride in themselves, their work and school. The Restorative Practices approach to student engagement and wellbeing began in 2010. School Council and Parents’ Club support our educational programs, fund raising, communication and fostering social links. A Breakfast Club, After School Care and Active After-School programs are all in operation. Our new website gives a comprehensive insight to our school community. The BER replacement school is scheduled to be completed and in use during 2011.
