Mornington Park Primary School is a small, friendly, welcoming community school that offers two educational streams; a Steiner stream caters for around half of the students. Each stream has four classes. The two streams have retained their distinct identity but creating a unified school with a whole school vision for education is a priority. A passion to support students and families is evident in both Steiner and mainstream. Our school works in partnership with local agencies and values the support of a social worker ,chaplain and many community volunteers to enhance our student learning. Our school is highly respected for its commitment to the wellbeing and engagement of all students. We have many extracurricular activities to support and complement curriculum programs: active after schools program, lunchtime club, breakfast club, community circles, friendly families and friendly schools, and calmer classrooms. We are a 'Kidsmatter' school. School facilities are excellent. In addition to our new library and learning centre, we are currently undergoing further building works, which will create learning spaces that can be configured to cater for differentiated learning. We look forward to our new Art room and enhanced kitchen facilities. Interactive white boards, IPads and notebook computers are a feature in all mainstream classes. Visual stimuli and displays of student work create an exciting learning environment that students are proud of. Outside our students enjoy the protection from our two large undercover areas. A new student designed playground will be completed prior to the new school year. Students enjoy caring for the chickens and working in the vegetable patch. Cooperation, care, excellence and participation underpin the student management processes. The school's literacy improvement focus is constantly and actively reinforced. Provision of programs for higher achieving students is an integral part of our learning programs.
