Whittington Primary School was established in 1978. Currently there are 110 children enrolled. This is an increase on the figure last year. The school sits at the heart of the Whittington community. Our aim is to offer the best possible start to formal education. Our expection is that all students move on to secondary education fully equipped with the reading, writing and mathematical skills they need to make the most of those opportunities. The school has 13.5 equivalent full-time staff: 1 Principal class, 6.7 teachers and 5.8 Education Support staff. The school's curriculum is focused on achieving this expectation with a large proportion of time devoted to literacy and numeracy. The school sromotes students' self esteem and the values of the "You An Do It" program to enable students to become hihgly effective learners. This aproach is strongly endorsed by the school and local community. The school's education team of teachers and integration aides have developed very good pedagogical practice. This team includes specialist teachers of physical educaiton and the arts as well as eading recovery. Instructional leadership is provided by a National Partnership's teaching and learning coach. The school's highly supportive pastoral program adopts the principles of Restorative Practice and benfits from full time social worker provision. A breakfast club runs daily with extra curricula sports programs operating after school on Mondays and Tuesdays which are attended by over half hte school's students.
