Yarrunga Primary School continues to move forward with exciting programs and delivering innovative teaching. Our motto "Learning Today for Tomorrow" embraces the values of our school community. Recent construction and refurbishment of our school provides us with an open and friendly envionment, catering for learning in the 21st century. Yarrunga Primary School has 21.7 equivalent fulltime staff: 2 Principal class, 15.6 teachers and 4.1 Education Support Staff. Yarrunga Primary School is located in the large rural city of Wangaratta. The local residential area is currently undergoing an urban renewal process with new residences being constructed to replace aging government housing. Our curriculum focus this year has been on improving numeracy outcomes for students across the school. We have also worked extensively at embedding our literacy program into best practice. Parents are actively engaged in our school and volunteer in a variety of programs. Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program has been integrated into our curriculum, linking units of work to Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS). Currently we are a pilot school for the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Program (SWPBS). A highlight of our school is our excellent Physical Education and Japanese programs which are sequential programs for Grades Prep-6.
