Nilma Primary School provides a caring learning environment in a rural setting. Our school's core focus is to develop students’ educational competencies to the highest possible level that prepare students to become lifelong learners and valued members of society. Students have rich learning opportunities that extend their capacity to learn independently and interdependently. A flexible approach to teaching and learning, including the use of multi-ageing, ensures that challenging learning experiences with clear learning goals and rich interactive environments facilitate learning within and beyond the school. Nilma Primary School is situated 3.5km from Warragul and has an enrolment of 69 students. Nilma has equivalent 5.4 full-time teaching staff including the principal and 1.3 Education support staff. Specialist programs include ICT, Art, Music, Science, Japanese and Library. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extra-curricular activities to further enhance their learning. The partnership with parents and community is strongly encouraged. Nilma values parental input, support and participation. In 2011 new open learning classrooms will support Nilma’s teaching and learning practices with our focus on continuous learning through purposeful teaching tasks and a challenging curriculm to enhance student learning.
