Miles State High School is a co-educational Queensland rural school of 160 students which offers a wide range of subjects to students enrolled in Years 8 through to 12. Miles High students 'Travel the Crossroads to Success' and have a proven record of academic achievement, cultural awards, sporting success and outstanding performance across all aspects of the educational spectrum. The school theme for 2009 is to 'Raise the Bar'. The main strategic priorities include a relentless focus on student achievement through high expectations. A whole school curriculum plan is being developed, underpinned by curriculum alignment plans in all units of work. Quality Teaching is focused, active teaching supported by rigorous and relevant Professional Development. Literacy and Numeracy is embedded across all subjects. We continue to promote inclusive programs eg. Boys Education, Gifted Education, Partners for Success and Special Needs programs and to focus on opportunities for Gifted and Talented Students. We have a major focus on NAPLAN preparation to strengthen literacy and numeracy across the curriculum and we actively market school and staff successes to the wider community.
