Niddrie Primary School was established in 1961 to serve the educational needs of the urban development of Niddrie and Airport West. The present school population is 257 students with an increasing number of students drawn from outside the traditional catchment area. The backgrounds of students reflect a cultural and socio-economic diversity. The school has Student Family Occupation (SFO) index of 0.51 which essentially means Niddrie PS has a rich mix of students from various backgrounds that come together to provide a healthy interaction of cultures and histories. This school has 20 equivalent full time staff (2 Principal Class, 14 Teacher Class, 4 Education Support Staff) Niddrie Primary School is focused on delivering a comprehensive learning program to our students to prepare them for the next stage of their learning. The school has achieved strong results in NAPLAN. The My School website shows Year 3 Numeracy substantially above similar schools, Writing above similar schools and Reading close to similar schools. The Year 5 data shows results in Writing and Reading to be above similar schools and Numeracy to be substantially above. The trend data over the last 3 years indicates growth at a significantly greater rate in all areas when compared to schools with similar student intake characterisitics. Our school is located in the Western Metropolitan Region and we are a member of the Moonee Valley Network of schools. We work closely to ensure that the schools in our network follow the broader priorities outlined in the WMR Blueprint and Network Strategic Plan.
