Ferny Creek Primary School, established in 1895, is a school whose children, parents and teachers are treated with respect and dignity, a school where everyone is welcome and accepted as they are, a school where staff, parents and School Council are responsive to the needs of students, a school which reflects the character, nature and values of its community. Ferny Creek Primary School promotes integrity, lifelong learning and the attainment of excellence. Our core purpose is to provide the Ferny Creek Community with a comprehensive primary education for all students that will empower them to reach their full academic, social and physical potential, thus providing them with the necessary skills for Life Long Learning. As a small to medium sized school with a 2010 enrolment of 216 students, Ferny Creek Primary School caters comprehensively for individual student needs within a broad curriculum. Specialist programs were offered in Japanese, Physical Education, Library, Music and Art, and a P-6 Integrated Curriculum that is implemented from a solid foundation underpinned by high level achievement in literacy and numeracy learning. The school had 18.91 equivalent full time staff: 2 principal class, 9.59 teacher class and 7.32 Education Support staff. The school has undergone a building programme through 2010 and this has increased the available space from 7 classrooms to 12. The school also has a dedicated Library/Resource Centre, a Performing Arts Centre and a Visual Arts Centre.
