St Patrick's School is situated in the Central Highland's region of Central Queensland. This area is influenced by both vibrant mining and agricultural industries. St Patrick's is a three and four stream school with very strong Prep enrolments. The school was founded in 1902 by the Presentation Sisters and their ethos is still very much evident in the school. The school's enrolment is approximately 670 from Prep to Year Seven. The school's grounds are spacious and well kept and the learning classrooms and areas are modern. The school has two computer labs, one of which is situated in the school's library. All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and data projectors. Digital cameras are accessible by teachers and one mobile interactive whiteboard is available for classroom use. All classrooms have at least two computers with internet access for children's use. St Patrick's employs a fulltime learning support coordinator who works closely with staff, families and children to implement individual programs that support learning. Two school counsellors are employed for two days a week each and both work very closely addressing children's needs. St Patrick's has strong ties with Marist Secondary College Emerald and many joint curriculum and community activities and functions are coordinated between the schools. The school is also strongly linked to the St Patrick's Catholic parish community. School based 'You Can Do It' and 'Peer Support' programs have been implemented across all year levels in recent years and these are taught on a weekly basis. They have both been very successful. St Patrick's has a very strong physical education program which includes involvement and success in after school training, interschool, regional and state sporting competitions. Junior touch football is coordinated through the school with sixteen teams from Years Four to Seven playing on a Wednesday evening.
