St Thomas More's Catholic Primary School was founded by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1961 with 60 students in a farmhouse that doubled as the Parish church. From these humble beginnings St Thomas More's has grown into a co-educational Parish school with over 400 students, offering a curriculum and pedagogical approach to meet the needs of children born in this age of technology. The parent body has been active in ensuring the school is well-resourced and the school environment is aesthetically pleasing. Parents are seen as partners in the educational journey of their children and the school looks at community involvement in the implementation of a curriculum focusing on real-life experiences. Our vision for St Thomas More's is one of hope and challenge. We believe that students, as individuals, learn in different ways and at different rates. For us, learning is a life long journey of the spiritual, the academic, the physical, the cultural, the social and the emotional person. At our school we endeavour to: create a happy, secure, respectful learning environment; develop in our students “ownership” for their learning; encourage our students to develop their potential; recognize and nurture individual gifts and talents; and promote the acceptance of self and others. Students are encouraged to be the people God created them to be as we follow our vision to 'imagine the journey, shape the pathways and become the future'. We do this through our chosen values of Joy, Justice, Faith and Hope, and these values ground us in what we say and do as we follow our pathways of awareness, our pathways of living and our pathways of learning in our school.
