Park Ridge Primary School, is situated on a 3.6 ha site in Rowville. In 2010 we catered for the educational needs of 535 students from diverse backgrounds, including 13% from Language Backgrounds Other Than English. The needs of the children were addressed through the employment of 32.4 EFT VIT registered staff members supported by 7 School Support Officers,three of whom were administrative support personnel. Specialist programs were provided in areas of Visual and Performing Arts, Physical Education and LOTE (Indonesian) with support for targeted students being available through the Reading Recovery Program at Year 1 and other intervention programs targeting specific groups of students in need of support or extension in areas of Literacy and Numeracy. Extra-curricula activites made available included keyboard classes, Maths Olympiad, participation in Wakakirri, Fairhills Dance Festival, Book Club, Environment Group, Junior School Council and sporting pursuits in addition to regular inter-school and house competitions. The school's facilities were enhanced during the year by the building of a multi-puprose facility that will service the needs of our Out Of Hours Care programs, our Performing Arts program and provide a large open space for the use of classes during school hours. Landscaping and beautification of the surrounds of this site will be a future priority of the School Council. The school was successful in receiving a grant from the Federal Government to install solar panels on the gymnasium roof.
