Monash Primary School is situated 230km north-east of Adelaide in the Riverland district. Centrally located, Monash is a small community and is surrounded by the larger towns of Berri and Barmera. The immediate district is developed with wine and fruit growing properties and many families at the school are associated with the horticultural industry. While the Monash community is relatively small, the school draws students from families that live in the surrounding towns of Berri, Barmera, Glossop, Winkie and Lyrup. Families are attracted to the school by its moderate size, dedicated staff and fine reputation. There is also an on site kindergarten, which provides an excellent preschool program. Parents participate on a variety of levels e.g. assistance on excursions, supervision of sports events. The Governing Council is an efficient group of parents who work hard to maintain the school's high level of success. The Welfare Club contributes funding and support to classroom programs and healthy eating in the school. A highlight of the school year is the annual Monash Market which occurs every May and is a successful fundraiser for the school and a great community event.
