Macclesfield Primary School is a small, rural, Reception-Year 7 school situated in the Adelaide Hills close to the larger towns of Mt Barker and Strathalbyn. Our core values are respect, responsibility, success, safety and caring. Combining these with our virtues program ensures that our children have fun in a positive, caring and safe learning environment. We are committed to improving our students' learning outcomes in literacy, numeracy and science. Our results in spelling, reading, writing and numeracy have shown improvement over the past couple of years and we will continue to strive for further improvement. We have a strong focus on community and participate in a wide range of community activities such as ANZAC and Remembrance days, Adleiade Fringe events, Carols in the Square and town sports. Our children are involved in a variety of environmental activities such as Water Watch, Weed Warriors, recycling, Road Watch and the growing of spider mites to help eradicate the local gorse bush pest. Our students have access to a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as sports, Pedal Prix, Festival of Music choir, instrumental music and the Active After Schools program. The school currently consists of four classes with the two junior classses housed in the new Early Learning Centre. All classes have interactive whiteboards, and we have several networked, web-linked student computers. The school has a well-equipped gym, a new Stephanie Alexander kitchen and garden, a computer suite, large, shaded play areas and an adjacent bush block on which many of our environemntal activities are undertaken.
