Portland North Primary School places a high level of importance and commitment to continually improving student outcomes, especially in English and Mathematics. Coupled with this, as is highlighted in our current Annual Implementation Plan, is the development of critical thinking processes to cater for our diverse range of students. We also have a variety of extension programs providing for individual students, especially in oral language and reading. Our program for Students with Disabilities has grown over the last 4 years catering for a wide range of students, in particular those with autism. Our results in student learning were pleasing but show that we can improve in some areas, our Annual Implementation Plan will reflect this in 2011. Emphasis has been placed on improving and extending students in Information and Communication Technology with our school budget reflecting this. This year we were able to continue the DEECD Netbook trial to inclue our grade 5 student. All students are provided with excellent opportunities to develop their skills in sport and visual and performing arts. Workforce composition consists of 2 principal class officers, 16 effective full time teachers, one .87 PSD Manger, One .5 Reading recovery teacher, 8 support staff, 1.5 Office Bursars and one .2 ICT Technician. Pprtland North PS has a positive partnership between parents and teachers with outstanding parent commitment in all facets of our schooling.
