Millicent High School consists of three sub schools: the high school site of about 320 students, the Community Learning Centre of about 70 flexible learning options (FLO) students located in the leased premises of the TAFE building next to the school, and the Independent Learning Centre of approximately 130 FLO students located in Mt. Gambier. Millicent High School's philosophy is to value and develop respect for ourselves and the members of our school community, promote positive attitudes towards success and to strive to provide opportunities for students to achieve their personal best. We offer a range of Industry Pathways programs including engineering, construction, automotive and textiles. Our Earth Care program is a collection of related programs, including the permaculture garden, forestry, native fish breeding and our reconciliation meeting place/Aboriginal garden which empowers students to make a real difference to environmental issues in our local region and provide significant enrichment for the learning of our students beyond traditional subjects and approaches. We provide a range of performing arts opportunities including music, dance, drama and a school band. Other programs include the basketball focus program, a community partnership between our PE staff and the Millicent International Basketball Association coach, and our mathematics and science enrichment program. Our community and in-school mentoring programs assists students to recognise their strengths and helps them to decide on future pathways. Extra-curricular programs include maths, science and English competitions, drama/musical productions, athletics, knock-out sports, debating and public speaking.
