At the Penshurst Primary School students are encouraged to strive for excellence at all times. There is a high priority placed on developing a firm foundation in literacy and numeracy. In this small school (10 students), a caring family atmosphere is nurtured and each child is recognised as a unique individual. The school operates a flexible learning classroom with students from Prep to Grade 6. Staffing levels in 2010 included a full time Principal, Class teacher 3 days per week and Teacher Aide/Business Manager 3 days per week. Total of 1.6 teachers and 0.6 Education Support. All students have access to a lap top during school hours and technology equipment was upgraded at the beginning of the year to allow for Interactive Whiteboards in all areas of the school. Our curriculum is enhanced by weekly visits from the MARC van and a specialist music teacher. The school buildings consist of 2 flexible learning areas, a large Art room and new Sports Stadium set in 4 hectares of grounds. The development of the Sports Stadium was completed in 2010 and will greatly enhance community involvement in the school. 2010 also saw the introduction of a community Book Club, meeting monthly in the school. Our School Strategic Plan maintains a strong commitment to the development of Literacy and Numeracy skills for all students.
