Koondoola Primary School is located 17 km north of the Perth CBD in the City of Wanneroo and has an enrolment of 384 students. The school consists of a 'mainstream' part of the school, and the Intensive English Centre (IEC), which caters for the needs of recently arrived migrant children who have a limited or no understanding of English. This couples with the cultural diversity of the mainstream students to provide the school with a rich multicultural environment that is built on to show how different groups can work and play together in harmony. We host a satellite class from Burbridge School, an Education Support School with which we share a common boundary. We have a diverse student population. Apart from the IEC enrolment, we have students from 27 different language groups in our mainstream classes, making English the biggest area of focus in the school. We support our students with a number of pastoral care programs including Protective Behaviours, Rainbows, Drumbeat, and the Behaviour Management and Discipline Program. We also have a significant SAER program across the school to help address the educational disadvantage evident in a large number of the children.
