Willandra Primary School is situated in the Armadale suburb of Seville Grove. The school commenced operations in 1993 and it currently has an enrolment of approximately 650 students. The school has recently undergone extensive refurbishment. In adddiotn, eight new state-of-the-art classrooms provided under the Commonwealth Government's Building the Education Revolution program will be ready for use in 2010 . The school's priorities are high standards of student achievement, values and social education. The school ethos encompasses Learning, Pride, Values and Community, and our teachers are committed to the well-being of each and every one of our students and strive to create an environment which nurtures the desire to learn. Willandra Primary School features many special programs that enhance and enrich children's school experience. Values and pastoral care are supported by a significant number of programs reflected daily in classrooms. A whole school approach to social and emotional development based on PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) from Kindergarten to Year 5; and Aussie Optimism in Years 6 and 7 has prioved very successful. The bullying prevention program TED (Treat Everyone Decently) has been prominent in the school for a number of years and TED awards are presented at weekly assemblies to children who demonstrate school values in the classroom and in the playground. The staff are a highly experienced, dedicated team of teachers and include a Literacy Specialist Teacher, a Numeracy Specialist Teacher, a Music Specialist, a Physical Education Specialist and a LOTE Specialist, as well as several skilled Education Assistants. Particular emphasis is placed on Literacy and Numeracy development and this is supported by an explicit phonological awareness program from Kindergarten to Year 3. Music is prominent in the school. The school has an outstanding choir comprising sixty students, and children also have opportunities to participate in classical guitar, a recorder ensemble, and a ukulele..
