Yangebup Primary School is in a delightful national park. The land is semi-rural, bounded by lakes and bush. Staff has become very client focussed and engage in strenuous efforts to encourage students to enrol. This has met with some success. The students are drawn from mainly English speaking backgrounds. Aboriginal students make up about 10% of the total enrolment. The leadership model has been developed to utilise the skills of an experienced and very competent staff. There are key programs. These include, Friendly Schools and Friendly Families, Mentoring programs, Chaplain, Choosing Respect, Virtues, Talented and Gifted programs, Visual arts, music making and extensive sporting programs. The school has a highly developed Information, Communication and Technology learning area. The community believes the children perform well in social settings, games competitions, and in all academic areas such as NAPLAN, and year 7 scholarships. An innovative Parliament System provides many opportunities for students to display leadership and self-responsibility.
