Spearwood Primary School is located within the City of Cockburn in Fremantle. There is a strong influence of ethnicity. Approximately one third of the students have some ethnic heritage. Our Aboriginal population has also grown over recent years. The Spearwood Primary School community actively seeks to develop a culture that promotes a positive approach to learning, focusing on motivating and engaging students. Provision for talented academic achievers is provided through their enrolment in Primary Extension and Challenge Program (PEAC) classes. In addition children requiring special services are supported by Inclusive Schooling Initiatives as well as support programs through departmental agencies. Early Childhood Literacy and Numeracy intervention are a feature of the school, assisting teachers to develop explicit teaching practices. Spearwood Primary has a strong Music program that features a high quality School Choir, which undertakes numerous engagements. A Partial Italian Language Immersion is unique to Spearwood Primary. Also, the school is trialling a program to develop values through philosophy.
