Dawson Park Primary School offers primary education for children aged 4 - 12 years of age. The student profile is approximately 5% Aboriginal and 5% ESL (English as a Second Language) - with a recent increasing trend of ESL students. Dawson Park is situated in an outer suburb of Perth's foothills - an average-to-low socio economic area. Whilst most students have a home environment conducive to effective learning, recent trends indicate the need for more pastoral care programs to cater for students at emotional risk. Recently, the Rainbows Support Program was introduced to teach children coping mechanisms to assist them to deal with grief and loss. The TRIBES program forms the basis of the school's values education. The school has implemented well-resourced Literacy and Numeracy remediation and extension programs. We also have a well-recognised environmental program in place. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is a strong focus at the school, with a specialist ICT teacher, a well-resourced computer lab and computers in all classrooms. We also have a specialist Music teacher and an annual Edu-Dance program.
