Port Elliot Primary School has served the south-eastern Fleurieu Peninsula since 1853. We have a strong community focus; parents and caregivers play an active role within the school, through classroom support, library and sporting programs. In 2007, the school and co-located kindergarten moved to a new site adjacent to the Port Elliot Showgrounds. The school enjoys joint use of the showground's oval. Inter-school surfing is a key sporting activity at the school. The school priorities are: high quality instruction, engagement and success, early years, literacy, numeracy and well-being. Music and Indonesian are specialist subjects offered at Port Elliot Primary, and the school participates in an Aboriginal Cultural Exchange Program with Murputja Anangu School. Enrolments at the school, which caters from Reception to Year 7, have nearly tripled since 1991, in line with a general growth of activity in the local area. The school has an active Student Representative Council, with weekly meetings and activities. Specially trained student-peer mediators are rostered on to work or play with students who are lonely during play times.
