McLaren Flat Primary School was established in 1855 and is set in the heart of the Southern Vales grape growing region. It is a small school (increasing in numbers due to an increase in housing development through out the town) with a strong rural tradition. This rural context, as well as the proximity of the metropolitan area, provides unique learning opportunities. A $2.2 million capital works upgrade, completed in 2008 and the BER funding projects officially opened in 2011, provided us with state-of -the-art facilities and resources. Access to the local recreational grounds from the rear of the school adds to our physical resources and strengthens community relationships. Our aims are for our students to be successful in their learning, and foster lifelong learning skills and a commitment to the values of respect, honesty, pride, resilience and responsibility. Our school’s motto ‘A Great Place to Learn’ is reflected through the programs offer. We are proud of our safe, caring and nurturing family environment, being a central focus of the community. Students are offered access to a wide range of sports, active student leadership, Japanese, choir, out of school hours care, Active After School communities program, Christian pastoral support program and parent and community participation.
